I rarely get opportunities to meet Franklin’s Gulls, so when they appear before me I’m compelled to chase them with my lens. Brine Flies created a carpet on the beaches, and the gulls’ feeding antics entertained us. The stars of this sideshow were the California Gulls, but the Franklin’s Gulls were also interested in the bounty of insect prey. The Ring-Billed Gulls showed no interest in the flies. I’m not sure what they were feeding on.
