Morelet's Seedeater

(Sporophila morelleti)

Description:

I wish I’d captured a better image of this first meeting with the seedeater. Between the thick tangles of branches and twigs, I wasn’t able to get a clear shot at this bird. The location was less than two miles south of the small town of Quemado (Texas) at a roadside rest stop. Texas calls them picnic areas. I had a couple of first meetings with bird species here in March 2020 on my way to Brownsville Texas. My winter visit in January 2021 had some nice surprises for me as well.
