Sharp-Shinned Hawk

(Accipiter striatus)

Description:

As I was walking out of the compound, it was my good fortune to spend time with this small hawk. The series of shots I captured are easily the best images of this species I’ve captured to date. I spent a lovely day walking the paths of Quinta Mazatlan, a 20 acre reserve in McAllen (Texas). Late February may not be the best time to chase birds in the area, but those I met pleased me.
