On The Existence Of Shadows

Sometimes when my brain quiets down and the noise of worldly things subsides, philosophical thoughts will creep in. Shadows, and their very existence, and all the parallel concepts (such as evil, lies, and hate) may become the focus during these moments.

Wisdom has emerged during periods of my life, challenging me to rethink basic concepts. Subjects such as those mentioned in the opening do not exist on their own merit. They describe themselves only by what they are not. A shadow has no power of its own and ceases to exist with the presentation of light. We can only describe evil as the absence of good. Knowing the truth makes a lie disappear. Hate is absence of love and goes out of existence when one learns to love. These subjects beg the question: do they exist at all?
