The community of Cibola Arizona, resides along the Colorado River about 25 miles south of Blythe California where the cultivated lands contrast harshly with the surrounding barren desert. Officials designated part of the agricultural land a National Wildlife Refuge. This refuge’s mandate is to keep the geese and cranes out of the farmer’s fields. The goals are more hunter and farmer friendly than nature lover friendly.
On this day I spent more time at a rest area right on the Colorado River than I did in the reserve. The Western Kingbirds there were quite cooperative.
