Authorities have acknowledged the Bill Williams NWR as “a birding area of global importance.” There are many birds that breed in the habitats there, some of which are threatened or endangered. I found it a great place to birdwatch, but a bit frustrating for bird photography, because of the dense growth of willow, mesquite, cottonwood, and tamarisk.

I managed some shots on Bell’s Vireo, Black-Tailed Gnatcatcher, Gila Woodpecker, Yellow-Breasted Chat, a bug (Queen Butterfly) and a snake (California Kingsnake).
