Like many folks in love with nature and new to photography, 25 years ago, flowers seemed an attractive subject for me. Always beautiful, and available, even in one’s own yard we can find worthy floral candidates to attend. In southern California, after an occasional wet winter season, we look forward to an explosion of flowers blooming in the nearby deserts. So popular are these spring blooms, folks from sometimes 200 miles away will flock to see the otherwise brown-toned deserts to see all manner of delicate colorful blooms emerge.
When these blooming events are at peak, and popular areas such as Henderson Valley are filled with visitors, I find it more satisfying to seek out-of-the-way places to visit. Plum Canyon has served me well at these times. Later, when my attention began to turn towards birds as preferred subjects, Plum Canyon fulfilled those needs as well.
