There are three well-recognized groups of geese: the gray group (Anser), the black group (Branta) and the white group (Chen). Species shown in this set of images are Brant, Cackling Goose, Canada Goose, Greater White-Fronted Goose, Ross’s Goose, Ruddy Shelduck, and Snow Goose.

[Update: Scientists no longer classify the white geese as Chen; they now classify them as Anser.]
