New World or Wood Warblers are common and widespread throughout North America. Generally, they are divided between the “Eastern” and “Western” groups. Some scientists believe the recent Ice Age of approximately 20,000 years ago that peaked at the Last Glacial Maximum caused the division.
Warbler species included here are Black-and-White, Blackpoll, Black-Throated Blue Warbler, Black-Throated Gray, Hermit, MacGillivray’s, Nashville, Orange-Crowned, Pine Warbler, Tennessee, Blue-Winged, Townsend’s, Wilson’s, Lucy’s, Chestnut-Sided, Yellow-Rumped, Magnolia and Yellow Warblers, along with Yellow-Throats, Redstarts, Ovenbird, Chats and others.
