Cuckoos

4 Subjects, 84 Images

This set (family Cuculidae) includes the Yellow-billed Cuckoo, the Black-Billed Cuckoo, the Groove-Billed Ani, and the Greater Roadrunner. Old-World Cuckoos are well-known nest parasites, but the New-World Cuckoos only rarely use this practice.

A distinguishing trait shared by all members of this group is the arrangement of their toes: two forward, and two to the rear. Scientists call this zygodactyl feet.
