Raptors – Hawks, Falcons, Eagles, Kites

Raptors, or ‘birds of prey’, get their name from the grasping talons they use to seize and subdue their prey. On display in these galleries are Owls (Burrowing, Great Horned, Long-Eared, Northern Pygmy, Short-Eared, and Western and Eastern Screech), Hawks (Common Black, Coopers, Ferruginous, Harris’s, Northern Harrier, Red-Shouldered, Red-Tailed, Rough-Legged, Sharp-Shinned, Swainson’s, Mississippi and White-Tailed Kite), Falcons (American Kestrel, Merlin, Crested Caracara, Peregrine and Prairie Falcon), Eagles (Bald, Golden, and Martial), and Osprey.
